These bowls were originally kiln props, used just once to support a big china lampshade during firing. We saved a few of them from landfill, decorated and glazed them, and took them to a craft fair.  They sold out within hours. Since then they have proved that people love the idea of having something lovely made out of something that was going to waste, so we are going to continue to look for more waste products from the ceramics industry to put to good use.

Each one is unique, and slightly imperfect in a charming way, and we have written their life story on the base. Sturdy fine bone china, they can be put in the oven, dishwasher or microwave.

Unfortunately we don't get as many of these bowls as we can sell, as we need to wait for another batch of lampshades to be made. They will hopefully be back in stock soon, so if you would like to go on our waiting list, please email Cressida at
